WUF13 takes center stage in Kyiv

 

 

The Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv hosted a presentation on the upcoming 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

Initiated by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine, the event was organized with the support of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

Addressing the gathering, Seymur Mardaliyev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine, emphasized that by hosting such a prestigious forum in Baku, Azerbaijan aims to contribute to addressing the future of cities and fostering cooperation among countries, institutions and stakeholders committed to sustainable development.

According to him, Azerbaijan is striving to build cities that meet the needs of future generations. He particularly underscored the country’s ambitious initiatives, including the development of "smart cities" and "smart villages" in the liberated Garabagh and East Zangezur regions.

Other speakers included Gulshan Rzayeva, Deputy National Coordinator of WUF13, Deputy Chief of Staff of Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture; Olena Shuliak and Volodymyr Kreydenko, MPs of the Ukrainian parliament.
