About the Forum

 

The South African National Urban Forum 2025 was held on August 21-22, 2025, at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban. The event was organized by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the Ministry of Housing, the Department of Cooperative Governance, the Department of Land Reform and Rural Development, the South African Cities Network, and the eThekwini Municipality, with support from UN-Habitat.

The forum served as a platform for discussing sustainable urban development, climate resilience, inclusive planning, sustainable provision of essential services, and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goal 11 in the context of Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063. Government officials, urbanists, experts, civil society representatives, the private sector, and international partners participated.
