UN official hails WUF13 as critical platform for partnership
“The strong interest shown by Azerbaijani non-governmental organizations in WUF13 is highly commendable. This forum serves as an important platform for global dialogue, exchange of experience, and partnership in the field of urban planning,” said Anna Soave, Head of UN-Habitat's Country Office in Azerbaijan, speaking at a WUF13 training session for NGOs titled “The Role of Civil Society in Sustainable Urban Planning.”
She noted that the World Urban Forum (WUF) is an open and inclusive platform where no legally binding decisions are adopted, adding that the forum brings together governments, local authorities, NGOs, academia, the private sector, and other stakeholders.
According to Soave, preparations for WUF13 are continuing intensively, and the high-level support provided by the Azerbaijani government for the event deserves special recognition.
“Hosting WUF13 in Baku is not only about holding an international event. It is also an important opportunity to present to the global community the innovations implemented by Azerbaijan in urban planning, particularly the restoration and reconstruction efforts carried out in the liberated territories,” Soave emphasized.
