Vienna hosts events related to upcoming WUF13 in Baku
The United Nations Office in Vienna and the OSCE headquarters hosted a series of events on the theme of safe and sustainable cities aimed at promoting the upcoming 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
The events were co-organized by the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to International Organizations in Vienna, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the OSCE, and the Vienna City Hall.
During the events, participants were briefed on preparations for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) set to be held in Baku, as well as Azerbaijan’s key objectives in this regard.
The agenda included discussions on urban planning, green transition, climate resilient cities, and affordable housing.
The attendees also exchanged views on experiences from Vienna, Baku, and Basel in urban development and transformation.
Gulshan Rzayeva, Deputy National Coordinator of WUF13 and Deputy Chief of Staff of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, and Elchin Allahverdiyev, Director of the Climate Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented Azerbaijan at the discussions.
The events brought together representatives of accredited countries, international and regional organizations based in Vienna, as well as experts interested in the topic.
