As part of the Second African Urban Forum (AUF2), the Global South NGO Platform held a side event entitled “From AUF2 to WUF13 and Beyond: NGOs Forum on Sustainable Urban Development in Africa,” in partnership with the Azerbaijan Urban Campaign (AUC2026) and Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) of Azerbaijan.

Addressing the side event, representatives of the Global South NGO Platform from various regions highlighted the importance of matters such as infrastructure shortages, housing problems, vulnerability to climate change, and social inequality in the African region and globally.

The speakers at the event also included Fuad Karimli and Nadima Rahimli, Representatives of the Secretariat of the Global South NGO Platform; Aygun Aliyeva, Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan ; Sultan Hajiyev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN Office in Nairobi, Azerbaijan`s ambassador to the Republic of Kenya and Charlene Ruto, Daughter of the President of Kenya, founder and patron of the “SMACHS” Foundation.
